Vardeteatret
As a stage actor, I’ve worked for Vardeteatret (Beacon Theatre) in Oslo for several years. Vardeteatret is a small private theatre focused on socio-political topics, giving a voice to those often outcast or marginalized in society.

Our productions often centered on inmates and their journeys from imprisonment to freedom, such as in the project “Help, I’m Free…”. Using theatre as a tool for empowerment, we aimed to provide former prisoners with new skills and opportunities—helping them better cope with life after incarceration.

Our plays were developed to high artistic standards and performed both at our own venue and on tour around Norway—including many correctional facilities.

Marispelet
Marispelet is an outdoor Norwegian historical musical, staged on the cliffs above Vemork. It tells the powerful love story of Mari and Eystein, set to beautiful music rooted in folk traditions.

I’ve participated in this play four times, and expect to return—maybe as soon as summer 2023. Outdoor theatre has its own unique vibe: rain, mosquitoes, slippery rocks—none of it stops the show. The combination of national costumes, acrobatic dance, and gripping music creates an unforgettable experience.

Oslo Internasjonale Teater (OIT)
One of my more unique experiences was acting in a rehearsed reading at OIT, where contemporary international plays were translated and performed in Norwegian for the first time. I took part in the Norwegian premiere of “Schwarzes Tier Traurigkeit” (“Sort Dyrs Sorg”)—a brutal and raw piece that becomes even more intense in the reading format.

Television

  • Hotel Cæsar: Cast in three episodes as both a recovering drug addict and a doctor.
  • Kollektivet: Played a confused Buddhist monk in a musical parody.
  • Valens Rikskringkasting: Portrayed a lost Nazi in a satirical sketch set in Oslo’s Grønnland district.

Film

  • King of Devil’s Island: Played “Bjarne” in Norway’s most expensive film at the time—a challenging and unforgettable role.
  • The Psychics: Starred as the antagonist in this award-winning found footage psychological thriller. Much of the film was improvised and shot by the actors themselves.
  • Tin Soldier: Appeared in this documentary about the Qana massacre, drawing on my own experience as a UN soldier stationed nearby.

I’ve also supported emerging filmmakers by acting in over seven different student productions.

Acting in HR Work

Kulturkompaniet
I’ve used my acting skills in the private sector as a freelance actor for Kulturkompaniet in Stavanger, training thousands in security-focused communication through “dialogue theatre.” We act out real workplace dilemmas, creating a safe space for participants to experiment, reflect, and find new solutions—often with plenty of humor and insight.

“It is not the place of the theatre to show the correct path, but only to offer the means by which all possible paths may be examined.”
— Augusto Boal

This hands-on, improvisational acting is both rewarding and challenging—you never know what participants will throw at you! Topics range from conflict resolution to sales training and de-escalation.
